Eye-tracking systems detect areas of interest to users at a given time by measuring eye position, eye movement and pupil size. There are many techniques for measuring and tracking eye movements. The most popular is the optical method, which reflects light (usually infrared) back from the eye and is then perceived by a camera or some other specially designed optical sensor. The data are then analyzed using algorithms to extract eye rotation from the changes in reflection. Optical methods are widely used in eye tracking as a non-invasive eye tracking method and are favored because they are non-invasive and inexpensive.
